Assessment DescriptionDirect observation of performances,practical exams, group work: student self assessments.
Learning OutcomesUpon the completion of the course, students will:

A. Exhibit advanced competence in proper vocal techniques and apply them to their own singing by singing solos and leading part rehearsals.

B. Demonstrate an employ advanced choral singing techniques and be able to share them with singers in their sections.

C . Illustrate a deeper understanding of the creative process through students' ability to organize and conduct section rehearsals.

D. Choose songs from working people's cultural heritage with an eye to suing updated nontraditional materials to analyze the linkage between American cultural traditions and labor history.

Data SummaryThis is a blended musical arts class, with a total enrollment of twenty-seven.

In this group of students, the most advanced, there was a high command of advanced choral singing techniques. Students demonstrated it in the final performance of the Great Migration performance piece.
Analysis SummaryThese advanced students not only performed the choral music, they sang solos, acted in the performance piece and coached other students in their parts.
Next Steps PlannedWe will continue to master the Great Migration performance piece and perform it at City College on December 19, 2013 and at Western Worker's Labor Heritage Festival on January 18, 2014.
